Topic
I haven't chosen a definite topic for my brochure yet, but I think it may be on different sports. I feel like it would be a good topic for me to create a brochure on because I know a lot about different sports, and I could use a lot of different geometric patterns that align with different sports (I.e. a diamond for baseball, an oval for a track, etc).
There are also a lot of different colors I could use, so before I begin I would definitely decide on a color swatch that encompasses all of the topics that I decide to write about and that look good together.
Given the variety of different sports I could write about, I would decide on the ones that would make the most sense together, and not sports that have nothing to do with each other, for instance ice skating and football.
Even though they are both popular sports, they don't have many similarities with each other that would make for a good brochure.
Introduction
The two above photos are the images that I used as inspiration for my color swatch. There are a lot of different colors that I could have used but I decided on using three colors that I thought would look best in a color swatch; navy blue, brown, and a rust red.
After using the InDesign program for so long in class, it wasn't too difficult to develop a color swatch and create the colors that I wanted to use.
At first, I almost forgot how to even make different colors, but once I remembered, it was a fairly quick process for me to create colors, tints, and shades.
To create consistency, I made all my tints the same percentage, giving me the original color at 100%, the middle color at 65%, and the lightest swatch at 25%. I thought that using those same numbers would give me colors that I liked and I was correct.
I think by using the same percentage, the color gradient looks more natural between all of the colors and it blends them well together.
Once I had finished the color swatch and moved onto the name plates, I had a bit more trouble. Not so much trouble with creating the name plates and figuring out coloring, but more with the text and making sure that all the text was in the same place for all the plates.
